Anxiety was a pivotal concept in psychodynamic theories. In my dissertation, supervised by Spence and conducted in his laboratory, I elected to investigate whether one of the components of anxiety as a dispositional characteristic was "drive" (the energetic component of the Hullian motivational complex).
